# Privacy & Security

Device MCP runs on your Mac. Your screen, apps and recordings stay there, and agents need your OK for risky actions.

Device MCP is built to keep your device and your data on your Mac.

## 1. Your data stays on your Mac

* Mirroring, screenshots, recordings and builds stay on your Mac. Device MCP doesn't upload your screen or your apps anywhere.
* There is no tracking or analytics in Device MCP.
* **Export Diagnostics…** saves a file on your Mac. Nothing is sent unless you send it to us.

## 2. AI agents

* The MCP server only accepts connections from your own Mac, and only from agents you set up.
* What your agent sees, such as a screenshot, goes to your agent and its AI provider, under their privacy terms. Ask your agent to look only at what it needs.
* Actions that change your device ask you first. See [Approvals](../ai-agents/approvals.md).

* Face ID, passcodes and purchases are left to you. See [Human Handoff](../ai-agents/human-handoff.md).

## 3. What Device MCP sends

Device MCP only connects to the internet to:

* **Activate and check your license**: your license key, your Mac's name, an anonymous ID for your Mac, and the app and macOS versions.
* **Check for updates**: the app and macOS versions, and your license, so you're only offered the updates it covers.
