# Quick Start

Mirror your first iPhone or iPad and connect your AI agent in three steps.

Get from download to a live device, controlled by your AI agent, in about a minute.

## 1. Plug in your iPhone or iPad

1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac with a cable.
2. Unlock it and tap **Trust** when it asks whether to trust this computer.
3. Turn on **Developer Mode**: on the device, open **Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode**, turn it on and restart the device.
4. Turn on **Enable UI Automation** in **Settings → Developer**.

See [iPhone & iPad](devices/iphone-and-ipad.md) for the details.

## 2. Open Device MCP

Your device appears in the sidebar and starts mirroring in about a second. Click it and use your mouse and keyboard to control it.

{% hint style="info" %}
If the device isn't ready yet, for example it's locked or Developer Mode is off, Device MCP says what's wrong and how to fix it. It continues on its own once it's fixed. See [Device Status](help/device-status.md).
{% endhint %}

## 3. Connect your AI agent

1. Open **Device MCP → Settings → MCP** and turn on **Enable MCP Server**.
2. Copy the command for your agent and run it in Terminal. For Claude Code:

```bash
claude mcp add --scope user device-mcp -- "/Applications/Device MCP.app/Contents/MacOS/device-mcp"
```

3. Ask your agent to use the device, for example: *"Take a screenshot of my iPhone and tell me what's on screen."*

See [MCP](ai-agents/mcp.md) for Codex, Cursor and other clients.
